At March 31, 2009, 2148 individuals have participated in training activities.
Phase 1 Assessment: Over 3000 participants have been assessed for training
Phase 2 Academic Preparation: 134 trainees have participated in academic upgrading activities
The Academic Preparation Phase consists of academic upgrading, lifeskills and other short-term training programs.
315 community members have participated in lifeskills programming
Communities implement life skills programs designed to provide program participants with the necessary skills to successfully manage the demands of family, community, and employment or job training.
205 individuals have taken part in short-term programming
Participants in short-term have taken professional development workshops, courses related to management, computers, business development and program implementation, first aid, WHMIS, drivers licensing and safety training.
Phase 3 Academic Instruction and Technical Training:
312 trainees have completed training in non-designated trades
The non-designated trades include skilled labourers, heavy equipment operators, warehousing and truck drivers.
42 trainees have completed training in business and management
Business and management training refers to training for the following work: management of labour force programming at the community level, management and accounting in existing businesses as well as potential new entrepreneurial Aboriginal ventures.
64 trainees have completed training in technical/professional areas
Technical/professional project support positions include surveyors, civil engineering technologists, environmental monitors, and health/safety and emergency response personal.
64 trainees have completed training in construction project supports
Construction support and related occupations are occupations that do not have formal apprenticeship programs. They are catering staff, administrative and clerical workers, environmental monitor and security personnel.
431 individuals completed training in designated trades with 22 trainees becoming certified journeypersons
Designated trades include carpenters, cooks, crane operator, drywaller, electricians, heavy duty mechanic, ironworker, millwirght, plumber, welder.
Phase 4 On-the-Job Training:
168 active apprentices 21 are in level 1
21 are in level 2
7 are in level 3
5 in level 4
114 working towards their level 1
Phase 5 Employment:
1105 individuals found employment upon completion of their training
197 trained through the Hydro Northern Training and Employment Initiative have been employed with Manitoba Hydro (on generating stations and in Manitoba Hydro operations)
